You will need bells for ballistic movements, but can substitute dumbbells for other movements if needed. We recommend kettlebells for all if possible!
-
Each class is measured by RPE (rate of perceived exertion/effort). Think of this as a measure of your perceived difficulty based on movement repetitions on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being a maximum challenge). We offer RPE guidelines for each class, both during videos and in written programs. You'll select weights based on how challenging the program feels based on RPE. We also use the following weight recommendations: light, medium/moderate and heavy. We cue regressions and progressions for movements that could be substituted for skill level and bell availability.

Include kettlebell buying guide graphic here if possible.

The Beginner Series is appropriate for those with zero to limited experience lifting weights of any kind (including kettlebells) and for those transitioning from the FitFourth postnatal program.
The Intermediate Series (Programs 1-3 and Program 7-beyond) is for most people looking to follow a challenging and balanced strength training program. We provide foundational cueing and movement demos for all skills at this level.
The Advanced Series (Programs 4-6 and Program 7-beyond) is for those experienced with kettlebell training that understand basic technique and can perform a full range of ballistic movements (including double bell work) with minimal foundational cueing.
-
Start by picking a level (guide in the above question) and selecting a “Series” (aka program) within that level to begin. Each program is listed in numerical order by level (Program 1, 2, 3, etc…) and is made up of class videos that add up to 10-12 weeks of training sessions.
Complete class videos in your chosen program series based on the recommended order and frequency (direction provided in each video). Most classes will be repeated in sets of x4 or x3 depending on the program requirements; repetition is part of our secret sauce for strength!
When you finish a program series, move to the next program series within your current level, or move up a level.

Each program exists on Bells Up Studio for one year before it is reviewed for quality and relevance. After one year has passed from the original series release date, the program is kept or removed. You will always have four programs available for intermediate/advanced levels and one available for the beginner level.
All cardio/conditioning classes are reviewed every 6 months and removed based on quality/relevance.
New classes are dropped every Monday.
Program series will be labeled by the current year, along with their numerical order. For example:
PROGRAM 1: Intermediate Series 4 (2021)
PROGRAM 2: Intermediate Series 1 (2021)
PROGRAM 3: Intermediate Series 2 (2022)
PROGRAM 4: Advanced Series 3 (2021)
PROGRAM 5: Advanced Series 1 (2021)
PROGRAM 6: Advanced Series 1 (2022)
PROGRAM 7: Strength & Power 2 (2022) *intermediate and advanced levels
PROGRAM 8: Strength & Power 3 (2022) *intermediate and advanced levels -
Yes. You do not have to start at the beginning, but we recommend not going backwards. Example: if you choose to start PROGRAM 4, move on to PROGRAM 5 or above, not PROGRAM 3.
What is the difference between a partial video and a full length video? Some videos in the Bells Up Studio advanced series include partial videos, meaning we do not do the entire class with you. These short videos include movement demonstrations if you are not familiar with the movements listed and a written program to follow for your training session. All other programs/series include full length videos (entire class) and written programs.

At Bells Up, we don't believe in short-term programs and random fitness, so all of our programs will blend into the next. You can start a new program right away and continue your training. All programs finish with a “test” to measure progress, so it is optional to take a day off after testing.
If you finish a program and aren't feeling like you mastered it, the program can be completed again, increasing weight and managing perceived effort.

Yes.
We offer a library of cardio-focused classes called “conditioning” classes, organized by level, duration and intensity. These classes can be combined with strength programs, or done on their own without following a strength program.
-
Yes! Bells Up programs are meant to create a solid foundation and keep it that way; our programs compliment other activities. We believe three days-per-week strength training is a sweet spot. We leave 2-3 days in your week available for activities like running, Pilates, yoga, spin classes or Bells Up Studio conditioning classes.
